Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ServerHunter.
What is ServerHunter?
ServerHunter is a community-driven platform for comparing VPS and dedicated server performance using real-world benchmark data. Users submit YABS and nws.sh results, which are parsed, verified, and displayed publicly to help everyone make informed hosting decisions.
How do I submit a benchmark?
Two ways: Manually — paste your YABS and nws.sh output into the submission form. Auto Script — generate a one-time token, run the provided curl command on your server, and results are submitted automatically via our API.
What is YABS?
YABS (Yet Another Bench Script) is an open-source benchmarking script created by the hosting community. It tests CPU performance (including Geekbench), disk I/O (fio), and network speed (iperf3). It is safe, widely trusted, and requires no root access. Learn more on GitHub.
What is nws.sh?
nws.sh is a lightweight network benchmarking script that tests download and upload speeds from multiple global locations using Speedtest.net servers. It provides real-world network performance data useful for evaluating hosting providers. Visit nws.sh.
Is it safe to run the benchmark script on my server?
Yes, but please be aware: the script will temporarily use high CPU, write temporary disk test files, and consume bandwidth during network tests. It is recommended to run benchmarks on non-production servers or during low-traffic periods. The script never modifies system configurations or deletes user data.
How are benchmarks verified?
New submissions are marked as "pending" and reviewed by automated parsers that check for impossible values, duplicate submissions, and suspicious patterns. Community moderators can then verify, reject, or flag submissions as suspicious. Verified benchmarks display a trust badge.
Can I edit or delete my benchmark?
Currently, benchmarks cannot be edited after submission to maintain data integrity. If you submitted incorrect data, please contact support or submit a new corrected benchmark. Account deletion will anonymize your benchmarks but may not fully remove them from the public record.
How do I add a provider to the platform?
When submitting a benchmark, you can either select an existing provider from the dropdown or type a new provider name. If the provider doesn't exist, it will be created automatically. Provider profiles can be claimed and updated by verified representatives.
What is the leaderboard scoring system?
The leaderboard uses a weighted scoring algorithm: CPU performance (35%), disk performance (25%), and network performance (20%), combined with a confidence score that considers the number of benchmarks, recency, and reliability of submissions. This prevents single outlier results from dominating the rankings.
Are coupons and deals verified?
Yes, all coupons and deals shown on ServerHunter are verified by our team before being published. We regularly check expiry dates and validity. Provider-claimed coupons may bypass some verification steps but are still monitored for accuracy.
How do I claim my provider profile?
If you represent a hosting provider, you can claim your profile by contacting us at providers@serverhunter.id. We will verify your affiliation and grant you access to update provider information, add official plans, and reply to reviews.
Is there an API available?
Yes, ServerHunter provides a REST API for programmatic access to benchmark data, provider information, and leaderboards. API documentation is available for developers. Contact us for API key access and rate limit information.
How do I report a problem?
If you spot incorrect data, spam, or abusive content, use the "Report" button found on benchmark detail pages and provider pages. You can also email abuse@serverhunter.id for urgent issues.
